The Polar Express!

Today, we had a guest reader in Kindergarten!  We had a real train conductor come read to us!  Thanks Mr. Justin Dowdy for punching our tickets and sharing The Polar Express with us!

Monday we will have a pajama day filled with hot chocolate and cookies!  During the day we will watch the movie, too!

Chippy

Chippy, our elf, came to visit the classroom this week.  He is keeping an eye out for Santa these last few days!  He even practiced writing his name!

SNOW!

Well, the kiddos were able to see the beautiful snow falling outside our window today!  It was very pretty!

I hope everyone had a relaxing, fun-filled break!  I know I did!  I ate, ate, and ate.  I shopped, too!

I am so happy to be back to school with each and every one of my students!  There is so much more to learn in Kindergarten and we aim to learn as much as we can!

Welcome back!

What? It's October?

OH MY!  I can't believe it is already October!  I am sure everyone had a great Fall Break.  I know I did.  This month is filled with so many awesome things.  We are going on a field trip, learning about the season of fall, fire safety, spiders, pumpkins, and bats!  Plus, we will have a Fall Harvest party, Fall Festival, and even get our Kindergarten picture taken!  Most importantly, we got a class pet!  We are now the proud owners of a really neat lizard.  The end of the 9 weeks is this week, so be expecting report cards the end of next week.  So, keep practicing those numbers, letters, sounds, and snappy words at home!  I know you can learn them all!  Have a great afternoon.

The end of August and the start to September!

Wow...Kindergarten is really flying by!  We have been having fun and working hard!  In just one month, we have learned so much.  It has been truly an amazing start to school.  The coming week we will continue  Math in Focus, our new math program, which we finally began last Thursday.  The kiddos seem to really like it!  We will also learn some new Snappy Words:  I, see, black, pink, & white!  Don't forget to practice those words each night.  Even better, we will be using shaving cream this week to write out letters and numbers!  It is going to be awesome.  I can't wait to see all 20 smiling faces tomorrow at school!  See you then!!!!

Update!

Hello, Symsonia Kindergarten Family!!!!  I hope everyone is finally in the swing of things.  I sure can see a difference already from the first day of school!  In the coming days, you will be receiving a newsletter with some valuable information!  Please take some time and read over it.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.  Also, any of the home activities I included in the newsletter are not required, but they are there to provide you with fun, meaningful ways to help your child be successful!  As always, thank you for allowing me to teach your amazing children!

A few things...

  • Each Friday we will have Coke Break.  The cost of a drink is $.75 and the cost of a snack is $.50.  If you would like your child to have Coke Break, please send your child's money in an envelope or baggie labeled with their name and "Coke Break" so we know what the money is for.  Also, please place the money in your child's folder!  This will help us out tremendously.  Please remember, Coke Break is a special treat, so if your child's behavior chart showed yellow, red, blue, brown, or black throughout the week, he/she may lose their Coke Break for that week.  We want to reward good behavior!
  • Be looking for sight words towards the end of this week!  Practice them and return them to school each day!
  • We have begun reading!  Our first book is:  The Park.  This book introduced the word the.  Your child will be bringing this book home in a few days.  Please practice this book at home.  You do not need to return it.

Welcome to Kindergarten!

Wow! Kindergarten has gotten off to a great start! We have been very busy these first few days. We already know how to spell R-E-D and are working on B-L-U-E! We have mastered the circle and are moving right along to square. We even went on a button hunt around school to find poor Corduroy's button.
Parents: Please remember to initial your child's behavior chart each night and ask how their day went! I am sure they would love to tell you everything they learned that day! Also, if you ever have a question or concern give me a call or email and I will be happy to help!
